Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Holy Toledo that was absolutely wild!!! It actually reminded me of the earlier Stephen King books in that it is a slow build up to a horrifying story. Omg the characters are so fleshed out and I absolutely love Christopher, his mother, the sheriff, and David. They were such great characters that I couldn’t help but feel for them and in the end, cry for them. I will not be giving away any spoilers, but I will mention a few of my favorite things.

The plot was so amazing. With a story that starts with Christopher getting lost in the woods. Then all hell slowly starts to break loose. You cannot help but keep going because you’re dying to know what happens to all the characters. They seem so real that it was hard to not feel hard for them. Their stories become all intertwined as the book continues until everything is a jumbled mess that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Each chapter makes it harder and harder to put down.

Take your imagination with you on this story because it’s fantastical and awesome. It’s also scary, thrilling, and breaking through with love. It’s been a while since I read a book as creepy and so well written as this one. There were no details left out and everything seemed to have meaning. As in, there is no fluff in this massive book. It’s just well written horror through and through. And don’t worry, you get hooked early on.

So of course I recommend this!!! I highly recommend this to those who love a slow build horror story that gets you at your core. Not unlike Bag of Bones by Stephen King. Such a great read!!!
